The Ewe

The Ewe

The Ewe stands quietly among the Nativity figures, calm and attentive, as though even the animals have sensed that this is no ordinary night. Her gentle presence adds warmth to the scene and helps bring the humble surroundings of the manger to life.

Individually handcrafted and hand-painted by Finch & Timber, the Ewe receives the same patient attention as the larger figures in the collection. Her wool, face, ears, and subtle contours are developed through careful brushwork, color, highlight, and shadow — many small details working together to give her character and presence.

Paired with the Lamb or displayed among the shepherds, she brings another layer of tenderness to a Nativity created to be gathered together and cherished year after year.

About This Piece

Craftsmanship & Details

Handcrafted for the Nativity

The Ewe is an original Finch & Timber Nativity figure, individually handcrafted and hand-painted to bring warmth, character, and another element of the humble manger setting to the larger Nativity scene.

Careful attention is given to her expression, wool, ears, face, and form. Subtle changes in color, highlight, shadow, and texture are developed by hand to create visual depth and give the figure a gentle, natural presence.

Creating even the supporting figures of the Nativity requires patient, detailed handwork. The Ewe is individually painted and finished with the same care given to the principal figures so the entire collection feels cohesive when displayed together.

Because each piece is individually handcrafted and hand-painted, variations in color, brushwork, texture, alignment, and finish are natural and expected. These differences are part of the character of the work, and no two will be precisely identical.
