The Shepherd Boy
The Shepherd Boy comes quietly to the manger, carrying one of his smallest lambs close to his heart. There are no jeweled gifts and no royal robes — only a young shepherd, the little life entrusted to his care, and the wonder of being invited to witness something far greater than himself.
Handcrafted and hand-painted by Finch & Timber, the Shepherd Boy is filled with gentle details: the warmth in his expression, the folds of his simple clothing, and the tiny lamb resting safely in his arms. Creating those details at this generous scale requires many patient hours of painting and finishing by hand.
There is a beautiful simplicity to this piece — a reminder that on the night of Christ’s birth, the invitation came first to ordinary shepherds keeping watch in the fields.

About This Piece
Craftsmanship & Details
Handcrafted for the Nativity
The Shepherd Boy with Baby Lamb brings a quiet tenderness to the Finch & Timber Nativity Collection. Individually handcrafted and hand-painted, the figure depicts a young shepherd holding a small lamb close as he comes to witness the newborn Christ Child.
The large scale of the piece allows expression and storytelling to emerge through the smallest details. The Shepherd Boy’s face and hands, the folds and textures of his clothing, and the delicate features of the lamb are all carefully developed and painted by hand.
Creating a figure of this size requires many hours of patient craftsmanship. Layers of color, highlight, shadow, and texture are applied individually to give warmth and dimension to the figure while preserving the simplicity and humility that are central to his place in the Nativity story.
Because each piece is individually handcrafted and hand-painted, variations in color, brushwork, texture, alignment, and finish are natural and expected. These differences are part of the character of the work, and no two will be precisely identical.
