The Holy Family
At the heart of the Nativity is a moment of profound stillness. Mary kneels in prayer beside the Christ Child while Joseph stands watch, lantern in hand — a tender portrait of a young family gathered around a newborn child, and the sacred night that changed the world.
Created at an extraordinary scale, with Joseph standing approximately five feet tall, the Holy Family has a presence that is difficult to capture in a photograph. Each figure is individually handcrafted and hand-painted by Finch & Timber, requiring many painstaking hours to bring expression, garments, light, shadow, and countless small details to life.
Made slowly and with reverence for the story it represents, the Holy Family is intended to become more than a Christmas display. It is a piece around which traditions can grow — brought out each Advent, remembered by children, and passed from one generation to the next.

About This Piece
Craftsmanship & Details
Handcrafted for the Nativity
The Holy Family is the heart of the Finch & Timber Nativity Collection. Mary, Joseph, and the Christ Child are individually handcrafted and hand-painted on an heirloom scale, creating a scene with remarkable presence when displayed together.
At approximately five feet tall, Joseph gives a sense of the extraordinary scale of the work. Creating pieces of this size entirely by hand requires many hours of patient, detailed craftsmanship. Faces and expressions, folds of fabric, hair, the manger, Joseph’s lantern, and the subtle transitions of color, light, and shadow are all carefully finished by hand.
The scale allows details that might otherwise be small accents to become an important part of the work. Viewed in person, the figures reveal brushwork, texture, expression, and subtle variations that cannot be fully conveyed in photographs.
Because each piece is individually handcrafted and hand-painted, variations in color, brushwork, texture, alignment, and finish are natural and expected. These differences are part of the character of the work, and no two will be precisely identical.
