Handcrafted and hand-painted by Finch & Timber on an impressive scale, each Wise Man has his own expression, posture, garments, and character. Their elaborate robes, jeweled details, vessels, and gifts require many painstaking hours of painting and finishing by hand. Seen together, the richness of their color and ornament gives way to something quieter: three travelers who came seeking a king, and found Him in a manger.

Handcrafted for the Nativity
The Three Wise Men are among the most richly detailed figures in the Finch & Timber Nativity Collection. Presented together as a single grouping, each figure is individually handcrafted and hand-painted with his own expression, posture, garments, colors, and gift for the Christ Child.
The large scale of the piece provides room for an extraordinary amount of hand-painted detail. Flowing robes, decorative borders, head coverings, jewelry, vessels, gifts, faces, and hands are developed through many hours of careful work. Color, highlight, and shadow are applied individually to give each figure his own character while allowing the three to read as one harmonious scene.
Particular attention is given to the ornamentation of the Wise Men. Their richly colored garments and gifts provide some of the most intricate decorative painting in the Nativity Collection, rewarding a closer look and revealing details that can be difficult to appreciate fully in photographs.
Because each grouping is individually handcrafted and hand-painted, variations in color, brushwork, texture, alignment, and finish are natural and expected. These differences are part of the character of the work, and no two will be precisely identical.
